The Beginning of a Long Haul.
This past weekend has kicked off the start of my road season for 2014. I've been at camp with my amazing coach, Mark Teruki, and a few inspirational athletes such as Jacob White, and Jack Funk. Were down here in the Arbuckle mountains for a four day training camp with some long miles in the saddle. The weather the first two days were perfect for riding, low 60s, with 8-10mph wind. The first ride we did was an easy 36 mile spin to get our legs warmed up, after that ride I knew it was going to be a hill-filled weekend, but who doesn't like climbing?! The second day of camp we went out and did a 83 mile loop, it hurt. That loop included over 4,000 feet of climbing, rollers all day long. The third day of camp we didn't have as good of luck with the weather… about a 28 degree windchill with brutal 20mph wind gusts. I was getting blown around. We only had a 46 mile loop but with the unforgiving weather it felt like 146. I'm looking forward to tomorrows ride, being the last day of camp it shouldn't be to crazy! Along with riding some long miles we have been working on core and flexibility, which I'm excited to start doing at home after rides as well. I've been so blessed to ride with an amazing group of people this past weekend, so much talent and drive inspires me to work harder. There hasn't been a dull moment so far! Im so ready to see what this year has in store for me, I've got my sights set high and I'm ready to work! My new favorite quote that I kept reminding myself these past few days is, "champions expect pain, endure pain, and never complain". I'll definitely be keeping everyone updated as I make my way through this already crazy-busy year! Thanks for reading :)
